Omved Pushtikar Hair Oil Review

Hola!

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year. I know that I am late and sincere apologies for that. I hope that the new year brings lots of joy to everyone. As for me, many things changed and yet many are going to begin soon. I also know that I am back after a long break. I got a little busy in the daily schedule and couldn’t find much time for blogging. Yet I did find time to try out many different products in past few months and I am going to write about all of them one by one.

I have dry hair and thus I really like hair oils as they always help me a lot. I am keen on trying different hair oils and other hair products. This product was mentioned to me by one of my valuable readers who had suggested me to try out this hair oil and review it for them. I bought this one soon but did not find time to write about it. Now I finally have the time to write about it and so here it is…

What’s In Focus?

Omved Pushtikar Hair Oil

The Backstory

I have already told you guys about my interest in checking out new products especially hair care products and that I love experimenting with my hair. When one of my readers in my earlier post asked me to try this one out, I couldn’t resist buying it immediately. I didn’t face any problem in finding it online and it was smoothly delivered to me at my place. I then tried it out and since then I have been using it for almost about two months. Let’s check how it fared out.

Product Description

DSCN3187.JPG

Packaging

I am not particularly enthusiastic about the packaging. It comes in a brown coloured glass bottle with description labels. The cap is white in colour. Yes, I agree that it is an Ayurvedic product but the packaging could have been a little better. Also, it needs to be carefully handled. The packaging is not very travel friendly as although the glass is strong but it is glass after all. So, thumbs-down from my side in the packaging department.

Ingredients

DSCN3181.JPG

Quantity and Price

The 125 ml bottle is priced at Rs. 490. The price is high as it is a herbal product.

DSCN3190.JPG

Colour and Texture

The oil is yellowish in colour. It is light in texture as it has coconut oil as the base. It also solidifies during the winter months due to the same. It has to be warmed up before applying so as to turn it back into liquid state. It is very less sticky considering it is an Ayurvedic product.

DSCN3193.JPG

Fragrance

It has a strong herbal smell which might be unpleasant to some people. I am not personally bothered too much by it.

Chica’s Outlook

First things first, the texture of this oil impressed me as I was getting disgusted by the thick texture of castor oil. So when I applied it, I was relieved that it did not give the too much ‘chipku’ feeling. It made my hair soft upon washing. I also noticed a lot of improvement in dry scalp condition. Along with this, I used Head and Shoulders Dry Scalp Care shampoo to cure this issue. The scalp itch due to dryness was also cured. It also did work for hair loss and new hair growth but that has a lot to do with diet also and I failed to make any changes in that part. I still have the bad habit of eating junk food on which I am going to improve upon soon. Also, I did not have an extreme hair loss issue. But as for the oil, it did work for my hair.

Pros

  • Lightweight in nature.
  • Contains herbal ingredients.
  • Helps with dry scalp related issues.
  • Improves hair texture.
  • Helps in controlling hair loss.
  • Might help in hair growth if used regularly.

Cons

  • Old age packaging.
  • Expensive for quantity given.

Chica’s Verdict

It is recommended for you but do give it some time to come up with the results. Worth a try especially if you are facing dry scalp troubles.

Soulflower cold pressed Castor Rosemary hair growth oil review

Hola Bonitas,

I’m back with another hair care product review. I would be lying if I said I’m not a haircare freak. Yes, I am. And a hopeless one ;). I love trying out new hair care products and I love experimenting with my hair. And recently I had a reason for that. Not a very good reason because it’s called hair fall. The nightmare of every girl which does come true every once a while for me. Mostly it happens because of my own bad habits like eating junk food every now and then, improper sleep, lack of exercising and what not!  I had also skipped hair oiling and hair spa sessions. So I had this upon myself.

Hair fall has its own merits for me. Please don’t stare at me like that 😛 . The merit which I’m talking about is that I always end up finding one or more good products for my hair. Plus I also get to try out new products. And lastly, I get to know on  what I shouldn’t put my hands the next time. So last month, I realised that it was a high time when I should start taking care of my hair. Therefore I began my search for new products this time. Although I have my HG products for hair fall, yet this time I wanted to explore the undiscovered territories. That’s when I got this one along with some others (which of course will be reviewed soon). For now the review for this one…

What’s In Focus?

Soulflower coldpressed Castor Rosemary hair growth oil.

DSCN0129.JPG

The Backstory

I came across this one at Amazon. The name and the ingredient list made me grab it instantly. Both castor oil and rosemary work wonders for hair and are useful in various hair troubles. Rosemary is beneficial in promoting hair growth as well as treating dry scalp, itchiness and dandruff. Castor oil also helps with hair growth and checking hair loss. It also moisturises the hair. Make sure to Google these ingredients if you aren’t aware of their usefulness in hair care. The brand Soulflower is known for its natural and chemical free products. Therefore I had high hopes from this one…

Product Description

DSCN0133.JPG

Packaging

I received it in a neat box packaging. Inside the box were two 100ml bottles of the oil. The black cap of the bottle shuts tightly but I highly doubt if it is travel-friendly. I personally haven’t travelled with it. So I will advise you to pack it carefully. Will update this as soon as go out of the house with it. Next week for sure. So, as I was describing, the bottle  has the product name on the front and the details at the back. It is simple and hassle free.

DSCN0130.JPG

Ingredients

DSCN0135.JPG

Quantity and Price

I got two 100ml bottles for Rs.330. I don’t think one single 100ml pack is available as of now. Although it is mentioned on the bottle that one 100ml pack costs Rs. 165.

Colour and Texture

The oil is transparent with a barely visible light yellow colour. The viscosity is on the thicker side since castor oil is present in it. It is sticky and therefore you do need to dilute it with some thinner oil like coconut oil or almond oil. I prefer almond because of my dry hair. Also the added benefits of almond along with castor and rosemary.

DSCN0145.JPG

Fragrance

The fragrance is of rosemary. Although I personally like it, yet it might bother some sensitive noses.

Chica’s Outlook

I decided to use this for a month before writing this review. For the first few uses, I applied it at night and washed off in the morning. But then due to lack of time and my laziness 😉 , I applied it for 30 minutes as directed. It worked well both the ways although I recommend applying it overnight if possible because that reaps the maximum benefits. It did work on my hair fall as it ceased not drastically but yes it did. I cannot comment on the hair growth part as I believe it’s too early for that. It also helped with the dryness. Overall it is a good product.

Pros

  • Checks hair fall.
  • Helps with dryness.
  • Inexpensive.
  • Long lasting.
  • Might help with hair growth if used continuously.

Cons

  • Sticky texture.
  • The need to dilute it.
  • The fragrance is strong.

Chica’s Verdict

Chica recommends this one as it lives up to its claims. Try this one out and see if it works for you. What products do you suggest for hair fall? Do help me out, please.

Matrix Biolage 6 in 1 SmoothProof Deep Smoothing Serum Review

Hola Bonitas,

Nothing ever just ‘sort of happens’. Some people do put in their efforts to make things happen for you. Today is the World Gratitude Day and so on this occasion I want to express my gratitude to all my readers. Thank you so much for being here. Yes I do agree that gratitude should be a part of everyone’s daily routine and not just one day. But since today is a special affair, girls please remember to be grateful for all the abundance in your lives because the power of gratitude is enormous and it can weave magic into your life if you believe in it.

So back the world of makeup and beauty, today I am here with a review of the Matrix Biolage Smoothproof Serum.  A hair serum is an integral part of the hair care routine along with the shampoo and the conditioner. These magical drops are really handy at the time of need. Dry haired girls like me totally understand the importance of a hair serum since most of the times we end up with tangled hair :/ Agreed? Oily haired beauties also find the serum to be convenient provided that it is not sticky. A hair serum is composed of chemicals- silicone primarily but I cannot go without it.I find it useful in many ways. I use it after hair wash to ease out tangles. I also use it before straightening hair. However always keep one thing in mind- never ever apply a serum on the scalp because the chemicals can damage the roots.

Matrix Biolage has become a well-known brand in India. I personally find its range of products very good. Most of its products suit my hair. Some of my favourites from Matrix are the Repairinside shampoo and conditioner, the Oiltherpie shampoo, the Opticare range and yes, I told you Biolage always works out for me so the list is long 😉 I’ve had a good experience with Matrix serums in the past. Now I purchased this one a few days back and let’s see whether this one impressed me or not.

The Backstory

I have always loved hair serums. Yes, dry-haired girls usually do 😉 I had liked the Matrix Smoothening serum as well as the Matrix Opticare serum in the past. So I instantly bought this one the moment I saw it. Also having avocado as one of the primary ingredients attracted me to it since we all know the benefits of avocado for dry hair. You can buy this one  here.

Product Description

Packaging

It comes in a transparent yellow colored bottle. No it doesn’t have a pump dispenser 😦 I would have really loved a pump dispenser because it makes the whole process of dispensing the serum so easy and also in adequate amount. So in this one, you have to tilt the bottle to get the liquid out. It comes with a white cap. On the bottle at the front side the brand name and the product name are printed. At the back side, product information is printed.

Ingredients

Quantity and Price

100 ml for Rs 295. You can get discounts online as well.

Colour and Texture

The serum is transparent in color and it has a runny texture. It is non-sticky as well as non-oily. (It ran down before the shot could be taken 😀 )

DSCN3168_1474391789301.jpg

Fragrance

It has the typical ‘biolage’ fragrance which is neither pleasant nor annoying to the senses. It fades after a few minutes.

Chica’s Outlook

I usually apply serum after a hair wash whenever I am in a hurry and can’t wait for my hair to dry completely. A tip here ladies: if you are suffering from hair breakage and hair fall then comb your hair only after it is completely dry because wet hair is more susceptible to breakage. I applied a coin sized amount of this on my wet hair and it worked like magic. It eased out all my tangles and made the process of combing my hair a cake walk. It has a non-sticky nature so don’t worry about the oily feeling. I also used it as a pre-straightening treatment and my dry wavy hair came out completely smooth and straight (sorry I don’t have the picture though). I also use this one whenever my hair is hopelessly tangled (read every time). It totally lives up to the claims  and does not disappoint you at all. It also contains avocado as well as grape seed oil which are good for hair. This one is a must for every dry-haired girl who suffers problems like me. Also because of its non-sticky nature, I am sure it will work out for all the oily haired beauties too.

Pros

  • Eases out tangles completely.
  • Controls frizz.
  • Smoothens rough ends.
  • Reduces breakage due to tangled hair.
  • Provides shine.
  • Light weight in nature.
  • Just a dime sized amount required for one usage.
  • Adequate quantity for the cost.
  • Will last about 6 months.
  • Travel friendly packaging.

Cons

  • Doesn’t come with a pump dispenser, I would have loved if a pump dispenser had been there.
  • The fragrance is not very appealing.

Chica’s Verdict

Go for it girls! It is awesome. I am going to repurchase it until I find something better. In short, this has become my HG serum. Chica’s in love with this one and she’s sure you will love it too. Do share your experience in the comments section. That’s it for today. See ya soon!

Dove pink beauty bar review

Hola Bonitas,

Dove is brand which has been associated with most of us since childhood. I remember when I used to be a kid, Dove soap was very popular in India. It was then mostly used as a moisturising soap during winters. The winter season in North India can be very harsh at times. Dove and Pears were the leading brands at that time when it came to moisturising bars. Over the years both the brands are still surviving here, with Pears being advertised as a soap with glycerine whereas Dove continuing with its trademark of being a beauty bar. Recently Dove launched this pink variant of the soap. Before this, there used to be the plain white one and the green one for the summers. Now with the pink/rosa let’s check out what Dove has to offer this time.

What’s In Focus?

Dove pink/rosa beauty bar

DSCN3139.JPG

The Backstory

You guys are familiar with my skin type but let me remind you once again that I’m a dry skinned person with excessive dryness. Not exaggerating but yes my skin is very dry. It is mandatory for me to apply body lotion after taking a bath. You are lucky here if your skin is oily. Actually no, I know oily skin has its own woes. I’m lucky, yay ;). Winters are extremely harsh for my skin but in the summers it’s alright. As a kid I used to bath with Pears. Dove was also there since a long time back as I told before. But the problem I always find with dove is the excessive sticky feeling after rinsing the soap off. Is there anyone else? (Troy of course, did you all enjoy it? I found it alright). So when this one was rolled out I decided to give it a shot to check out what’s new with Dove.

Product Description

Packaging

It comes in the signature Dove packaging but with a new color- pink with the brand name written in blue. There is a picture of the bar on the front side. The backside contains the product description. It also contains the product details like manufacturing, ingredients, etc. On the side, price and the manufacturing date are mentioned. Inside the box is packed the Dove pink beauty bar.

Ingredients

Quantity and Price

Rs. 46 for a 75 gm bar.

Colour and Texture

The bar is pink in color with a flying dove is carved out in the middle. The backside of the bar has the same design. The soap is moisturising and it produces a good lather.

DSCN3136.JPG

DSCN3140.JPG

Fragrance

The fragrance is almost like the white one yet distinguishable because it has a floral touch in it. It’s good and pleasing to the senses. But the only issue is that it fades soon after bathing.

Chica’s Outlook

You beauties must be aware of analogies. Well in this one there are numerous. What I mean to say is that when I started using the ‘new’ Dove pink bar, I noticed some similarity with the other plain white dove. Yes, it does lather nicely and also it does a good job of cleansing along with providing a refreshing experience. But that is what the other one does. And of course the same old Dove problem-the ‘chipku’ feeling after rinsing. I am trying to tell here about the excessive stickiness which I constantly feel with Dove. Even after I rinse it off, I felt that the soap is still there. The same affair as the white one. I had expected something different this time apart from the color and fragrance. I do understand and I’m well aware that it is a moisturising soap and its primary role is providing moisture but the sticky feeling is certainly not something that I want. This is a total put-off in the hot humid weather conditions currently prevailing in India with rains of course, but the humidity is still present. I might try this one again in the winters but until then I will not use it again. Also there’s nothing such as a pink glow. It’s all an advertising stunt as you ladies must have guessed it.

Pros

  • Rich, soapy lather.
  • Cleanses nicely.
  • Lovely floral fragrance.
  • Provides moisture.
  • Won’t burn a hole in your pocket.

Cons

  • The sticky feeling upon rinsing.
  • I still have to use a moisturiser after bathing.
  • Nothing ‘new’ apart from the color and fragrance.

Chica’s Verdict

Go for it only if you want to try out  an old soap with a changed new color and fragrance. Or else the best option is to leave it for the winter season. Or if you are not living in tropical climate currently then you can check it out. Or if you do not have the sticky feeling problem with Dove (too many times or, right 😉 ) Have you tried out the new Dove Pink/Rosa beauty bar? Let me know in the comments section. See you again girls 🙂
